Last but not least, technology transfer is eased by the XperiShare module. The ability to selectively build transferable knowledge packages improves technology transfer time because a selective reference database can be consulted to work out and adapt deviations during the transfer process. XperiDesk is capable of creating IP bundles consisting of selected process development data, information and knowledge. We refer to these as Process Knowledge Development Kits. These kits consist of the information gathered from process development work (recipes, meta-data, development history, selective experimental data such as pictures, measurement data, etc.) which can be used to speed up technology transfer projects. Instead of having only the desired recipe description in a process blue book and the knowledge in the mind of the process transfer engineer, these kits support the transfer between projects of reference data. This data can be used to check whether similar deviations have occurred during process development, indicating the right way to resolve the issues.

Additionally, the import/export function is intended to support customers using foundry processes. The information in these selective packages (they can be black boxed as well) can support foundry customers to more effectively use the possibilities and capabilities of a foundry. The foundry engineers are also relieved of the responsibility of having to answer rather obvious questions concerning the processes. In principle even a mix and match of different foundries can be achieved, such that a fabless customer could buy into certain processing capabilities from different foundries and arrange them inside XperiDesk as desired.

Overall the system is audit compliant (every version is kept and can be reused) as well as multi-tenant able. The latter allows coordinated development between different sites or partners, allowing everyone to see only what they are supposed to see.

The bottom-line advantage is the systems’ flexibility. To many customers it is the different combination of capabilities which are the most intriguing as the nature of customers’ challenges vary so greatly. Therefore, it is difficult to give a description of XperiDesk’s benefits in a nutshell.
